Melva ann Grove
Melva Ann Grove went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 23, 2020.
Melva was beautiful inside and out.
She had so much love to give to those she
cared about. She will always be remembered for her faith and love for the Lord and the Churches she served in, her Cherokee heritage, her strength, caring heart, giving nature and nurturing spirit.
Melva was born on October 30, 1950 in Fowler, California. She was the oldest of four children from her parents, Simon and Mary Ruth McGann. Her role in life from an early age was as a caregiver. As a child, she would help her parents take care of their family, by cooking, cleaning or babysitting her siblings. Her rst paying job was as a nurse aide in a nursing home when she was 17. Melva was in school to be a dental assistant when she met her husband, William, at the R Pantry Market in Sanger. They married and started their family, having 4 children in the rst nine years of their marriage.
While caring for her family, Melva also did a lot for the Indian Education Program in both Sanger and Reedley, was extremely active at her children’s schools as class aide, PTA President and Room Mother and stayed very involved with her Church. As her children got older, she continued her caregiver role, taking care of elderly neighbors in their homes and then took care of three of her grandchildren from birth until school age. Family was always so important to Melva. Melva was an amazing wife and mother, caring for her household and making her children feel special by being friend, caregiver, con dant, PTA mother, sports & FFA cheerleader, chauffeur, cook, baker extraordinaire and volunteer of her time and talent whenever needed.
Melva is survived by her husband of 49 years, William Grove of Reedley; Daughter, Leslie Cotham, husband Brian and granddaughters Holley and Hannah of Clovis; Son, William Grove Jr., wife, Amber and granddaughters Emery and Reid of Orange Cove; Son, Jon Grove, wife Alice and grandchildren Jon and Annie of Sanger; and Son, Clint Grove and honorary daughter in-law Laurel; and Siblings, Sister, Tina Ray of Sanger; Sister, Nan DeLaCerda of Henderson; and Brother, Simon McGann, Jr. of Fresno. Melva had many nieces and nephews that lovingly referred to her as Aunt Melva and many more acquaintances that called her Mom.
Melva will be missed by all that knew and loved her. Heaven gained a wonderful woman and her family is thankful for her in uence on their lives. Her beautiful memory will continue in each of them.
A very “Special Thank You” to our Angel, Inez, who was at bedside, providing for all of Melva’s needs, in the most loving and gentle manner the last several months of her life, in her Reedley home.
