Dinuba High senior Luke Rodriguez will be playing in the 49th Annual City/County All- Star Basketball game that takes place Saturday at Bullard High. Rodriguez is a member of the East team that is led by Liberty High coach Johnny Gonzalez. Coaching the West squad is Tony Peterson of Washington Union. Game time will be at p.m. and is one of four hoops games that will be played.

In the girls triple jump, Jasmine Sandoval had a PR as the freshman placed 5th overall with a mark of 29-9. Angela Cortez was 7th in the event at 28-11 1⁄2.
In the boys team standings, Dinuba finished 3rd overall with 100 points trailing Exeter (106) and Kingsburg (143). The Emperors finished ahead of Selma (54), Hanford West (45), Central Valley Christian (31) and Immanuel (15).
Lichtenwaldt had hopes of winning the CSL crown, but the Vikings prevailed.
“Hats off to Kingsburg,” Lichtenwaldt said. “All their athletes performed well. They were just strong all across the board. We had some good performances but we also didn’t do as well in a few events. That definitely cost us.”
The Vikings made it a clean sweep capturing the girls team crown with 94 points, edging CVC (92) and Hanford West (90). Immanuel followed with (84), Exeter (71), Dinuba (37) and Selma with 26.

In the 400 meters, Diego Estrada had a personal best of 52.57 for third in the 400 meters and Brian Ortuno Campbell was fourth in 53.19 while Alburto was sixth in 55.07. Ortuno Campbell also set a personal best in the triple jump at 42-5 3⁄4 for 3rd and he was fifth in the high jump (5-9).
Estrada took third in the 800 in 2:08.25 followed by Padilla, who was fifth in a time of 2:10.62, while Jose Arreguin was eighth in a personal best of 2:16.03. Estrada also finished 3rd in the 1600 in 4:48.14, while Soto was 10th in 5:06.31.
Alburto and Lopez were 7th and 8th in a very competitive 200 with times of 24.44 and 24.47. The top-nine finishers in that event each set personal records.
Natalie Crisosto and Luzmi Ramirez finished 3rd and 4th in the 3200 with times of 13:14.92 and 13:20.12. Earlier in the meet, Ramirez set a PR in the 1600 with a time of 6:02.54 for 6th place. Crisosto was 10th in 6:12.68 while Yaquelin Avilez was 11th in 6:19.11 and Monse Mendoza was 13th in 6:24.90. Avilez also had a PR in the 800 with a time of 2:50.22 as she was 8th overall.

A pair of local youth boxers took on the best competition in the Central Valley at the Central California Association Junior Olympics held on April 6-7 in Livingston. By tournament’s end Central Valley Orosi Club’s Danna Pineda and Miguel Montero each claimed individual titles. Pineda has the most fights under her belt with 18. She is a former member of the Modesto Boxing Club before boxing for Orosi. She has fought seven fights with her new club posting a 7-1 record. Montero is currently 8-2 while fighting at division.
Victoria Trevino finished fourth in the triple jump and set a personal record in the long jump for Orosi.

Rhenzel Campos was 11th in the discus with a throw of 77-3 and Aimee Quevedo was 13th at
73-2. In the shot put, Campos was 12th at 26-8 and Laisha Arteaga was 15th (25-3).
Rosamond won the team crown with 100 points just ahead of Fowler, who was 2nd place with (99) while Coalinga (75) was 3rd and Fresno Christian (33) took 4th.

The 2019 Dinuba High School Youth Football Clinic Under the Lights will be held from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Friday, May 31 at the Dinuba High Stadium
The clinic is for ages 7-15 and cost is $30. Registration will be held at 5:30 p.m.
Campers will receive a DHS football t-shirt, instruction from DHS coaches and players, and food.
Campers should wear shorts/ t-shirt and football cleats.

Dinuba High softball player Kirsten Martinez is named Athlete of the Week after pitching a complete game one-hitter and drove in two runs in a 5-0 win over Exeter. The Emperors clinched the Central Sequoia League title and earned the top seed in the CIF Central Section Division 3 playoffs.

Fresno States’ Ag One Foundation (Ag One) will host their 48th annual Turf Day Golf Classic on Monday, May 13, at the Belmont Country Club in Fresno.
Registration will begin at 10
a.m., followed by lunch and a 19th hole social and dinner.
Cost is $160 per player and $640 per team. After May 3, the cost per player will increase to $175 per person.
