Sentinel staff report
On Thursday, Jan. 3 at 1:25 p.m., deputies from the Tulare County Sheriff’s Orosi substation were called to the 10300 block of Avenue 416 in Sultana for an armed robbery. According to detectives, the suspect was armed with a large “Rambo” knife and demanded money from the employees at a Propane business. The suspect reportedly got away with approximately $200 to $600 in cash and then fled the area in a vehicle towards Orosi.
When detectives arrived on the scene they obtained video surveillance and statements from witnesses regarding the suspect vehicle and suspect.
Detectives from TAGNET canvassed the area for the suspect and
suspect’s vehicle. They found a vehicle matching the description and stopped it near Avenue 424 and Road 124. The driver was positively identified as Doyle Swarm of Reedley.
Detectives also found a large knife in the vehicle that matched the weapon used in the robbery. Swarm was also believed to be wearing the same clothing from the robbery and had a large amount of cash on him. He was arrested and booked into the Tulare County Jail.
Anyone with information regarding this investigation is encouraged to call the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office and speak with Detective Rick Morley or Sergeant Camacho at (559)733-6218 regarding case number 19-131, or send anonymous information by sending a text or email to TCSO@tipnow.com or call (559) 725- 4194.
