MVT Staff, FPU Report
Fresno Pacific's men's basketball team earned an at-large berth in the 2020-21 NCAA Di- vision II Tournament for the first time in school history.
The Sunbirds (11-7, 8-0 PacWest Conference) re- ceived a spot as the sixth and final seed in the Gold- en, Colo. Regional when the NCAA announced its field on March 7. The team will play No. 3 seed Biola at noon Thursday, March 11. A win over the Eagles, who received the automatic vid from the PacWest Conference, would advance FPU to a Saturday, March 13, 5 p.m. meeting against host Colorado School of Mines.
The Sunbirds fin- ished the unique season as the only PacWest Con- ference team to go unde- feated in pod play, join- ing Hawai’i Hilo and Bi- ola as Pod Champions. A 3-1 performance in non- league games gave FPU an 11-1 record against Division II teams, the best win percentage of
any team in the league. Aamondae Coleman has led the way this sea- son for FPU, finishing the regular season as the PacWest’s leading scorer and claiming three Nor- Cal Player of the Week awards. The Sunbirds closed out the regular season on March 6 with their seventh straight win, this one a 76-70 non-conference decision in Fresno against Hum-
boldt State.
The Sunbirds have
an average margin of victory of 12 points dur- ing the seven-game win streak. Adrian Antunez led FPU in scoring with 19 points, Coleman and Raine McKeython had 17 points each while Im- manuel High product Nate Kendricks added six points, three assists, two steals and two re- bounds.
Junior wing player Kendricks finished the regular season with an 11.1 points per game scoring average, with a high game of 22 points and three steals against Academy of Art on Feb. 6.

be added to the schedule for April 30, and a postseason "bowl" game also is possible.
As part of COVID-19 restric- tions placed by the California Interscholastic Federation, the games aren't open to the general public and are limited to family members. Brian Penner, Sanger High athletic director, said the school is allowing four family members per player to attend the games.
Reedley's other three home football games are against North
Yosemite League competition. The Pirates take on Hoover (March 26), Roosevelt (April 9) and Sunnyside (April 23). All three will have 4:30 p.m. JV games, followed by the varsity at 7:30. Reedley travels to Fres- no's McLane Stadium for games against Fresno (April 2) and McLane (April 16). Kickoff times will be announced.

Immanuel High School, mean- while, is playing just one single football game for Spring 2021. The Eagles will host Yosemite High at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 16, at County Line Stadium in the Immanuel Sports Complex. The non-league contest with the Badgers will serve as both Home- coming and Senior Night for the school, which has held on-campus instruction the entire 2020-21 school year.
Any changes or addition to prep football schedules in the region for Spring 2021 will be published in future issues of The Times.
