Contributions from three local play- ers weren't quite enough for the County to win its third straight over the City in the annual all-star football game on June 14.
The City took advantage of a safety and touchdown off a turnover to break a fourth-quarter tie, then blocked a late field goal attempt to hold on for a 15-13 victory at Deran Koligian Stadium in Fresno.
Justin Paboojian from Immanuel and Orange Cove players Tony Cordova and Andrew Leon helped put the Coun- ty in a position for victory. Paboojian helped anchor the County's defensive line while right tackle Cordova helped protect record-setting quarterback Trent Tompkins from Central High. Tompkins threw for two touchdowns in the game.
Leon saw action at wide receiver, and was in the game for both County touchdowns. On the first score, he ran a long clearing route and eventually paced Milton Clements of Central on an 83-yard scoring catch and run.
