MEMORIAL DAY Continued from page A1
Hillcrest Tree Farm in Reedley as well as Hillcrest Shops.
Bautista will share of her military experience, which began when she enlisted with her husband into the 144th Fighter Wing as he trained to fly fighter jets. Melissa Bautista complet- ed boot camp and was assigned to the base's audio visual shop as a graphic artist. She served for 20 years travel- ing with Sean (who was selected as a pilot trainee), and the couple traveled from base to base around the coun- try before retirement three days be- fore the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
Sanger Cemetery's Memorial Day commemoration will begin at 11 a.m., and will feature flags and a brief cer- emony. The American Legion Post 23 again will host the event, which last year was reduced in scope because of COVID-19. The pandemic canceled a scheduled speech by Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims and a flyover.
The Sanger Cemetery is located at 568 S. Rainbow Route east of the city. Dinuba's Avenue of the Flags cer- emony will not be a live ceremony at Smith Mountain Cemetery for a second straight year, but a flag com- memoration event is being recorded this week and will broadcast mid- morning on Monday (see The Times' and Dinuba Sentinel Facebook pages
for details).
American flags will be on display
at Smith Mountain Cemetery (420889 Road 100 northeast of Dinuba) until about 2:30 p.m. on Monday.
Meanwhile, there will be the open house event at the Dinuba Veterans Memorial Building from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 249 S. Alta Ave. in Dinuba. The public is invited, and attendees will have the opportunity to again vis- it and study the refurbished Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall that has been closed because of the remodeling and reconstruction.
There will be food served and available for attendees.
