Immanuel Schools hired its new director of athletics last week, officially naming Chris Stevens to the post.

High seeds for CMAC champs Sanger teams
The CMAC cham- pion Sanger High soc- cer teams received high seeds as rewards for their league cham- pionship campaigns, with the Apaches girls earning the No. 1 seed in Division II and the boys seeded second in the top-level eight-team Division I field.
Sanger's girls hosted Paso Robles on Feb. 15 (results were unavail- able at press time), and would next host the win- ner of Tulare Union and St. Joseph on Thurs- day, Feb. 17. The team would have home field throughout the section playoffs which wrap up next week.
The Apache boys begin play on Friday, Feb. 18, at 6 p.m. at Tom Flores Stadium against No. 7 seed Clovis West. That same day, No. 8 seed Reedley travels to Fresno to take on the top-seeded Central High Grizzlies.

Stevens' head coaching stints in the Southern Section included four seasons at On-
tario Christian, two seasons at Monrovia and four seasons at Chino Hills. He has 27 years of teaching experience.
In a greeting message to Immanuel High students, staff and parents, Stevens said, "On behalf of my wife, Corinne, and three kids, we are very excited and com- pletely blessed to begin our journey with all of you. I am fired up to be your new Di- rector of Athletics. We look forward to what our Lord will do in the future of our family, and Immanuel Schools."

First, the Tigers broke a 4-4 tie with three runs in the ninth inning in a 7-4 win over Cuesta in San Luis Obispo on Feb. 8.
Two days later, a five- run seventh inning led to a 12-6 win over Cerro Coso in Reedley.
Mike Rios drove in five runs with two dou- bles, a triple and a single to lead the offense. Orin Hirschkorn added a dou- ble and a single while Justin Tiger reached base four times with a single, double and two walks.
In the win over Cues- ta, Nathan Padilla's in- field hit led to three runs in the 9th inning. Rios scored two runs while Leo Arreguin and Roman Rosales added two hits.
This week, Reedley hosted Cuesta on Feb. 15 before traveling to Sac- ramento City on Thurs- day, Feb. 17, and then hosting Monterey Penin- sula on Saturday, Feb. 19, at 1 p.m.
RC softball equals 2021 win total
The 2022 Reedley Col- lege softball team has al- ready equaled the num- ber of victories recorded last season.
Last season, Reedley won three games in a COVID pandemic short- ened season. This sea- son, Coach Amy Carter’s Tigers left Sacramento with a 3-3 record after defeating College of the Siskiyous 14-4 and losing a 11-3 decision to Sacra- mento City College on
Feb. 12.
The Lady Tigers will
face Siskiyous again this Saturday, Feb. 19. This time, the game will be in Aptos a noon start before RC faces host Cabrillo at 2 p.m. On Monday, Feb. 21, Reedley hosts Cerro Coso in a noon double- header.
Men's golf wins again
By a margin of just three strokes, Reedley College won another Big Eight S. Conference a Tournament in Madera on Feb. 14.
The Tigers finished with the team score of 380 well FCC shot 383 in Monterey Peninsula finished with a 405. Cole Obrigewitsch and Emil Ericsson each shot a 74 for Reedley.
Basketball teams to close with home games
Reedley College is finishing its women’s basketball season with four straight home games.
The first of the four was played on Feb. 14, as the Tigers (7-16, 3-6) dropped a 70-60 decision to Central Valley Confer- ence champion College of the Sequoias. It was the second loss of the week to the Giants.
Four Tigers scored in double figures with An- nie Lopez and Amanpreet Kaur each scoring 14. Kaur added seven blocked shots and 11 rebounds.
The Tigers men (4-22, 0-12 CVC) losing streak extended to 16 games with two losses last week to state-ranked COS. The finale will be Friday, Feb. 18 at home against Porterville College.

Reedley High wrestling
Phillip Arroyo won the Central Section Division IV championship at 147 pounds with a 10-8 decision over Golden West’s William Nevarez on Feb. 12 at Torres High School in Madera. The senior is 29-8 for the season with 19 points, and is a two-time North Yosemite League champion.

Dinuba High Wrestling
Dinuba High's Javier Martinez won four matches with one pin to capture the 287 pound weight class championship at the Central Section Division I tournament Feb. 12 at Clovis East High School. The senior heavyweight beat Clovis North's Noah Duran by a 3-2 decision in the finals, improving his season record to 37-3.
