Deputy with FCSO arrests man trying
to steal catalytic converter in Parlier

A two-vehicle traffic collision knocked down power lines in the area of Buttonwillow and Parlier avenues in Reedley shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 14. The road was closed for a short period while crews cleared the scene. There was no report on injuries.

A Fresno County Sheriff's deputy on patrol arrested a Parlier man who allegedly was in the process of steal- ing a catalytic converter from a ve- hicle in Parlier last week.
The sheriff's office reported that the deputy was on patrol at about 2 a.m. on Feb. 11 when he noticed a car parked on the side of the road, lifted by a floor jack. Next to the car was a Chevy Silverado pickup truck.
When the deputy shined his spot- light on the vehicles, a man got into the truck and sped away. The depu- ty made a traffic stop on the driver and detained the man, identified as

Total county cases since the pandemic began in March 2020 are expected to surpass 100,000 later this week; sitting at 99,161 as of Feb. 15.
The positivity rate for active cases in a seven-day period de- clined from 22.1 percent down to 15.3 percent, and the new daily active cases fell from 94.1 early last week to 68.8 by Feb. 15. There were more than 5,000 additional persons vaccinated in the county for the week, and the county should be well past 50 percent fully vaccinated. Of- ficially, Tulare County last listed fully vaccinated on Jan. 17 — 49.3 percent – but there have been no unlike updates since that date.

COVID-19 update
As of the Tuesday, Feb. 15 update, there were 222,360 total cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID- 19) out of 2,451,066 tests in Fresno County, with 2,538 deaths and 450 people hospitalized (75 in ICU).
had 2,300 (3,694 regional) cases and 20 deaths. Del Rey was at an updated 482 cases (1,287 in region) while the Fowler region had 1,726 cases (1,700 in the community) and a continued 32 deaths through Feb. 15. Squaw Valley (an updated 231 cases), Dunlap and Miramonte had a total case number of 590.
Among Mid Valley Times cities in the county through Feb. 15, the Reedley region still has the most overall positive cases with 9,744 (an updated 6,700 in the city proper), and and increase to 95 deaths in data on the Fresno County Department of Public Health website. This week marked the first updates since December.
In Tulare County, there were 99,161 confirmed cases (5,335 active, a decline of 3,018 for the week) of COVID-19 with 1,276 deaths and 121 people hospitalized (16 in ICU) as of Tuesday, Feb. 15. The breakdowns by cities/regions show 7,879 total cases in Dinuba, 2,687 in Orosi, 1,370 in Cutler, 510 in Traver, 200 in the rural area south of Reedley and 57 in the area southeast of Orange Cove.

While the public was able to enjoy the lifting of restrictions mandating the wearing of masks indoors, young students weren't as fortunate. The state is con- tinuing its requirement that mask wearing continues indoors on campus at California public schools.

County communities finally was updated, with both Reedley (95) and Sanger (91) increasing by four total deaths.
Recoveries amped up in Tu- lare County — after slipping from a high of more than 97 per- cent before the recent winter outbreak to the low 80 percent rate — the number once again continue to increase. A total of 92.550 had regained general health from the virus, bringing the recovery rate back up to 93.3 percent.

“Worst of all, he’s a doctor, he’s suppose to aid people he’s suppose to help people out, said Cinthya Ramos. “We went to court to see if they would take his license, they won’t. I don’t see how anybody would trust them with their lives.”
Comazzi pleaded not guilty and was released from jail after posting a bail of $7,500.
“Whatever the cir- cumstances were, he could have spoken up, you don’t just leave someone on the road to die and not care,” said Cinthya.
Comazzi’s attorney argued that he should keep his medical license since he had a good reputation, and a judge agreed.
