ceremony scheduled for Dec. 14
MVT Staff Report
The sixth annual Wreaths for Reedley Veterans ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at Reedley Cemetery.
The event begins at the Me- morial Service Building with a short talk and instructions for volunteers to lay wreaths for the more than 1,800 veterans interred at Reedley Cemetery. Attendees then will move to the cannon area of the cemetery for a flag cere- mony by the Reedley Navy Junior ROTC unit followed by a release of doves.
Volunteers are needed to lay out wreaths at the cemetery right after the ceremony. In addition, volunteers with trucks are asked to meet at 8:50 a.m. at the Reed- ley Armory to transport wreaths
to the cemetery.
Susan Lusk, event organizer,
said anyone with a truck who is willing to help transport the wreaths from the Armory to the cemetery is asked to call her her ahead of time at (559) 859-2865. Lusk said 10 to 12 trucks would be needed to transport all 1,800 wreaths to the cemetery.
Lusk said that volunteers will be needed to pick up wreaths
from the cemetery on Saturday, Jan. 4, (volunteers with trucks meet near the flag at 9 a.m.) and also to bag up wreaths on Satur- day, Jan. 11 (meet at the Armory at 9 a.m.). Lusk said the bagging of wreaths after they have dried out usually gets the fewest vol- unteers, so anyone willing to help that day is greatly appreciated.
According to Lusk, donations to assist with ongoing costs of replacing wreaths, ribbons and hangers can be made to Reedley Area Veterans, Inc. (nonprofit ID number is 51-0504974). Checks can be made out to Reedley Ar- ea Veterans, and cash donations are welcome the day of the cer- emony.
For more information or to volunteer, contact Lusk at (559) 859-2865.
Thanksgiving at St. La Salle

the Catholic Daughters, the KHI-RHO Youth Group and Catholics in Action, and other community volunteers. In the photo, volunteers Andrew Jimenez and Breanna Robledo take Thanksgiving dinners from the kitchen line to serve the meals to guests.
