It stands one hundred feet tall and honors essential workers. Reedley's latest mu- ral with a message of grati- tude was unveiled on April 22 on the side of the Kings Canyon Unified School Dis- trict office.
The mural features photos of health care workers, first responders and educators.
I really think it’s impor- tant to thank heroes no matter what it is that they’re doing because they do so much for our community,” said Aaron Trujillo a senior at Reedley Middle College High School.
The mural was created by a printing business in Fresno called Pro-Screen.
citing yell.
“I got into UCSB!” The
University of California Santa Barbara was one of her top choices.
So, she was overwhelmed when she received the news. As a parent, I’ve been pret- ty lucky. My daughter is 20 years old and has an unwav- ering drive for academic ex- cellence.
It’s been so good that her self discipline has pushed her to be graduating from Fresno City College with highest honors, just two years after graduating from Sanger High School with honors.
I can’t say she got it from me. I was not a straight A student. Throughout high school, I had a C average at best. It wasn’t until I arrived at Fresno State University that my grades improved. I don’t know why but for some reason certain classes in high school just never clicked for me.
My brain can not, for the life of me, process math problems. I was in remedial math for most of my high school years. I did well in English and writing, and did good in history.
My daughter, however, was good all across the board. She’d been in ad- vanced placement classes for math and science, chem- istry and did exceptionally well in all of them.
One thing that I believe helped her achieve success was her schedule. She’d write up a study schedule for herself at the beginning of the week. Then she’d fol- low it. She’d give herself “windows” for study time and reading ahead on chap- ters for certain subjects.
She wasn’t just caught up, she was ahead. She’d have projects done that weren’t due for another month. I ad- mire her self discipline.
I definitely believe this was part of the formula for her success. Thinking ahead, planning ahead, that is key.
I worked for a dealer- ship while putting myself through school. I remember my manger said, "Failing to plan is planning to fail." That phrase has stuck with me all these years because it's true.
Many times I've failed to plan and have failed at something that could have been fairly easy.
As for my daughter she's planning for her future and I'm proud to say she's on the right track.
Her planning ahead has kept her successful.

Staff Report
The Sanger High School’s ‘adopt a senior’ movement has continued through the 2021 graduation season..
"Adopt-a-senior" began during the 2020 season fol- lowing the COVID-19 pan- demic. Seniors who were graduating from Sanger High and various high schools in the area would not be participating in a live ceremony due to the health restrictions, so a group to help out was started on so- cial media.
‘In their young lives, this is a stressful time that has resulted in the cancellation of proms and graduation postponements,” said Aman- da Tarango.
“Please adopt a senior or, pledge to send a letter, card, gift, gift card, snack, any- thing to let them know we’re
