Aleman helps FPU split series with Point Loma
Led by PacWest Confer- ence Freshman of the Week Jared Aguilar and Reedley product Adam Aleman, the Fresno Pacific University Sunbirds split a four-game series with visiting Point Loma Nazarene University last week.
Clovis East product Agu- ilar launched four home runs — his first of the season — as the Sunbirds (16-21, 12-12) swept a doubleheader April 19 by scores of 12-6 and 12-5 and then split two with the Sea Lions (27-14,15-8) on April 20.
Aguilar homered twice in a 7-6 Game 1 loss then belted
his fourth round-tripper of the weekend in an 8-3 Game 2 loss.
Aleman went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs bat- ted in and two runs scored in the Sunbirds' Game 1 win on April 19. He had a run- scoring groundout in the third inning and an RBI sin- gle in the sixth. Aleman also went 2-for-2 in the Game 1 loss on April 20, scoring the Sunbirds' first run. Pirates drop Easter finale to Hanford
At Fresno on April 17, Reedley High (13-8) rallied to tie the game in the sixth inning before Hanford High pushed across a run in the bottom of the ninth to win in a Fresno Easter Classic game at Hoover High School.
Will Gagnon delivered a run-scoring single in the first inning to give the Pi- rates an early lead. On two other opportunities in the early innings, RHS stranded runners in scoring position while the Bullpups (9-11) grabbed a 2-1 lead on a two-
run triple by Beau Wilkin- son off RHS starter Roger Ortiz in the second inning.
The Pirates dropped three of four in the Easter Classic, but are tied for sec- ond place with Hoover High one game back of Fresno High entering the final two weeks of North Yosemite League play. Reedley hosted Sunnyside on April 24, be- fore playing the Wildcast in Fresno at 3:30 p.m. Friday, April 26.
