This week's featured shelter animal, a beautiful 2 year old all white husky boy, is being called "Nanuk."
That's maybe because he reminds shelter volunteer Kim Reed of the old movie documentary "Nanook of the North" or the Intuit word for polar bear, Nanuk ... or maybe it's just because he looks like an Alaskan Nunuk dog.
Also available for adoption this week are:
• Ellie, a 2 year old pitbull mix;
• Lucy, a 1-2 year old mali- nois mix;
• JoJo, a young, always smiling, always active pitbull boy;
• Misty, a 1-2 year old ridgeback mix; and,
• Buster, a 1-2 year old happy, energetic pitbull mix who likes cookies, playing, walking and hugging.
There will be another spe- cial adoption day for Sanger shelter dogs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Tractor Supply Co. in Clovis on March 17.
Good news about last week's featured dogs, Ranger and Rambo. Their humans came to get them. Ranger's real name turned out to be Snoopy and Rambo's real name is Shadow - and both of them are home now.
In addition to Snoopy and Shadow, Ruger, Blondie and Doc will all be leaving the shelter with a rescue group from Oregon.
Call Sanger animal control officer Mario Irazoqui at (559) 618-9071 to make an appointment to meet Nanuk, JoJo, Ellie, Lucy, Misty or Buster.
Adoption only requires spaying/neutering and bring- ing the rabies shot up to date.
The only charge is to the veterinarian, Gregory Saiki. DVM.
