Thursday, December 13, 2018 | A7 Library is open on Wednesday and Thursdays. But
Isquierdo said his next goal is to try to secure more funding so that the library can be open five days a week. For now, the two days a week will continue to offer a safe place for the children of London to learn and, perhaps, give back to their community.
The library is hard to miss in London. It’s right across from Hodges Community Center and stands out as the only property in the small community with curb and gutter.
Said Isquierdo, "My hope is that the library is here long after I am."
There is also talk of a health clinic and a new park coming soon to the small, yet growing, community of London.

the basketball courts and they’re there... It’s the only thing they have. They don’t have a theater, the mall, they can’t go bowling... this is all they have.”
Also in attendance for the library’s 2nd anniversary were Cary and Tina Joslin. Cary, and much of his family, grew up on the property where the library not sits. For him and his family, the library also represents his family’s legacy.
“It’s just cool that there’s something here for the kids out here to come to for education,” said Cary about the library. “What they can’t get at school they can come here and get, so that they can continue to get an education. Who knows what they may become?”
He added, “This town doesn’t have a lot to offer. But now it has this to offer.”
Joslin said there were several offers for the property that’s been in his family’s name for over 70 years.
“This was definitely the better option,” he said.
Another person who attended the anniversary celebration was Tulare County Supervisor- Elect Eddie Valero, someone who will soon be instrumental in helping London transition further in the years to come. Valero, like Isquierdo, represents someone who returned to his community to give back.
“I’m so inspired by Rob and his commitment to serve and to come back to a community he grew
up in” said Valero. “Many times, we often find that people don’t want to return home, and they leave and never come back.”
Echoing a sentiment from his own hometown of Cutler-Orosi, Valero told the children who attended the celebration, “London has believed in you before you have even believed in yourself.”
Three librarians were also in attendance in Saturday’s celebration, Darla Wegener, who is the Tulare County Librarian, Lia Joslin, the London Library Branch Manager, and Eunice Quiring, who was specially invited by Isquierdo as the librarian from Kings River Elementary School, where he attended school as a child.

Not only did all of the Grand View first graders from Mrs. Hirahara's class receive Christmas gifts from Santa Claus, but so did their teacher. Carol Hirahara is on Santa's Nice List, having taught in the Dinuba Unified School District for 42 years now, first at Lincoln Elementary and currently at Grand View. Here she takes a photo with Santa and staff from the DUSD transportation department.
