that included the child’s name and age, and three wishes. Her goal was then to get those children a toy from that wish list if possible.
The first year, Gonzales and her softball team received 15 ornaments. The second year, that number doubled.
This year, she initially received 40 ornaments. With the help of friends and family she was able to provide 93 children with at least three gifts each to open.
She also was able to provide Transitions with 50 additional gifts for any children that may come into the system from now until Christmas.
When she first started with the project, Gonzales wanted to focus on children her age.
This year, the youngest is 7 months old and the oldest is 20 years.
In total, Gonzales received 93 ornaments.
With the help of donations from Parlier Rotary and Wally’s Collision Center in Reedley, Gonzales was able to do some Christmas shopping.
With Black Friday sales, she was able to stretch those donations and purchased tablets, penny boards, control remote cars, playhouses among other items.
“This year there’s kids who wanted tablets and with Black Friday coming up, we were able to get five,” Gonzales said.
“For the older girls, she got wallets and then she put gift cards in there,” Cepeda said.
Gonzales plans to continue to do this every year.

Goerzen, who has been a resident of Parlier for six years, said many surrounding communities do have centers or shelters for the homeless.
"Why don't we have a center here? What is wrong with Parlier? Why can't we do anything for our community?" she asked.

Her goal is for these children to be able to enjoy Christmas.
Gonzales also has motivated others from surrounding communities to join her cause.

Gonzales.
Cepeda and Gonzales' dad,
Alfred Gonzales, both are very proud of their daughter. “It’s amazing. From the beginning we’ve always told her when she started playing softball is ‘as long as you have the grades we’ll do whatever you need,’” Cepeda said. “She’s kept her grades. She’s had a 4.0 grade point
