Sanger High's boys soccer team made quick work avenging their lone loss of the 2021 spring season.
The Apaches (16-1, 7-1 County Metro Athlet- ic Conference) poured in three goals in the first 10 minutes of play, going on to drub the Edison High Tigers by a 6-0 score on May 6 in Fresno. The reigning Central Section and Northern California Division II champions are expected to secure the top seed in the sec- tion Div. II playoff bracket when they are finalized this Saturday.
The Tigers (1-13, 1-7
CMAC) lone win this season was the biggest upset of the campaign, a 2-1 overtime shocker over the Apaches at Tom Flores Stadium on April 20. There would be no repeat – or even the slightest chance of a re- peat — from a motivated Sanger squad.
From the opening kick, Sanger put on the offensive pressure. About three minutes in, Izaiah Romero booted home the first goal, and the Apaches were off and running. Cristian Torres then found Julio Hernandez in front with a centering pass and Hernandez made it 2-0 at the five minute mark. After a corner kick

MVT Staff Report
Five members of Sanger High School's track and field program established three new school re- cords while competing at the Arcadia Invitational in Southern California on May 7-8.
Junior Emmanuel Salas broke a 51-year-old school record in the boys 3,200 meter run, clocking 8 minutes, 57.73 seconds. That broke the previous school record of 9:00.7 set by Kasto Lopez in 1970, and marked the 10th all-
time fastest time in the event in the Central Section.
In addition, the Apaches' quartet of Kaley Cardenas, Si- enna Bianchi, Leah Mendibles and Rebecca Coronado posted new school record times in the girls 4x800 meter relay (9:32.19) and girls distance medley relay (12:29.13). The Arcadia Invita- tional traditionally draws many of the finest track and field ath-
letes in Central and Southern California.
