Dahlia Montes par- ticipated in another century milestone birth- day celebration — this one marking her 101st birthday – on May 7 in Sanger.
This celebration in-
cluded food and cake and increased interac- tion with family and friends at her former Sanger residence – the Elderberry at Bethel Apartments. Last year, because of the CO- VID-19 pandemic, her milestone 100th birthday
celebration was limited to a drive-by event for friends.
"I'm so thankful we have her here," daugh- ter Carolina Montes said of her mother, who con- tinues to maintain good health and a enjoyed the opportunity to socialize
with friends and family dating five generations. Dahlia Montes, an Ari- zona who's lived in the Valley for more than five decades, opened the family-owned El Monte Restaurant in Reedley with her husband in 1968.
About 20 family mem- bers and friends attend- ed Montes' birthday cel- ebration.
