are only valid for what can be hauled, as wood cannot be re- served.
Once a permit is obtained, permit holder must stop at the Lodgepole Visitor Center to re- quest that a ranger unlock the gate to the wood lot. Permits must be displayed at all times. Visitor safety and the protec- tion of park resources during woodcutting operations is the priority of the National Park Service. Cutting or collection of any trees or wood other than identified in the permit and lo- cated in approved woodlots is prohibited.
All equipment needs to be in good working order, and the use of proper personal protective equipment, such as leather gloves, eye protection, and chaps is strongly encour- aged. It is recommended that an additional person be pres- ent while permit holder is cut- ting wood in order to act as a spotter and to assist in loading wood. Each chainsaw needs to be equipped with a spark ar- rester, and exhaust systems need to be in good repair.
Permit holders are required to keep a serviceable round point shovel at least 46 inches
long and a UL-approved fire extinguisher (two-pound dry chemical or one-pound foam type –ABC or greater) within 25 feet of where saws are be- ing operated. This wood is a re- sult of tree mortality, and were trees deemed to be a potential hazard to visitors or property within the park.

"We're going to have a free Farmers' Market each Saturday evening in September and the first Saturday in Octo- ber," said chamber of commerce CEO Tammy Wolfe. "In addition, this year we're going to have a special Monday eve- ning Mexican Indepen- dence Day celebration on Sept. 16," said Wolfe.
Each Farmers' Mar- ket will have a special theme, starting with this Saturday's "Carni- val Night." Next week on Saturday, Sept. 14, will be a "Night of Champions," honoring all who serve or have served. Saturday, Sept. 21 is "Taco Throwdown" night. The cost of the entire project is estimated to be $3.7 million. For the application, the city of Dinuba needed to match a certain por- tion in order to secure the fund- ing. Hernandez said the city had already portioned aside $800,000 for the project, giving the city a $3.8 million budget for the Kern Street improvement.
He said the city is currently almost done with the planning phase of the project and will soon
be going out to bid. If all goes well, Hernandez said he hopes the city can begin the project before next winter.
And now that the city has seemingly cracked the appli- cation formula for these state grants, Hernandez said the city to push for more funding.
“We’re definitely going to keep pursuing those funds,” he shared. “Especially now that we know what they like to see.”
