Terry said that home buyers involved with Self- Help use "sweat equity" up front, making them able to knock down a good portion of down payment and up-front costs.
"As a result, a lot of
people that would not be otherwise be able to qual- ify are able to quality for these homes," he said.
City Manager Nicole Zieba called the project a "win-win" for the city, as the development helps the city's affordable hous- ing numbers but still is a quality project.
Terry said the map covers 61 units initially. Depending on weather and other factors, con- struction should be un- der way along with sales should occur in about six to eight months.
