Ruby was born in Kenwood, Oklahoma
on July 20, 1924, to Albert and Elizabeth
Breckenridge. When she was a young child, Ruby and her family migrated to Orosi, California, where she grew up. She attended Reedley High School. Her competitive spirit and athleticism made her a tough opponent in her women’s softball league and she loved the memories she made during that time in her life.
On December 24, 1941, just weeks after the bombing at Pearl Harbor, Ruby married Byre Davis, her husband of 75 years. They made their home in Reedley and were blessed with two children, Connie and Larry.
In 1949, Byre and Ruby opened Davis Auto Parts in Reedley. Ruby cut glass for the automobiles and served as the company’s bookkeeper. Davis Auto Parts later became known as Davis Road Oil & Equipment. For over 50 years, Davis Road Oil oiled roads and avenues to provide dust control for farmers.
Their entrepreneurial spirit and mind for business led Byre and Ruby to becoming the rst Air-O-Fan dealer for Fresno and Tulare counties in the early 1950s. An Air-O-Fan air blast sprayer meant that farmers no longer needed to spray by hand! In 1975, they purchased the Air-O-Fan company, and together with their son, Larry, Air-O-Fan sprayers became a household name for farmers worldwide. Ruby served as the of ce manager for their businesses for several decades. Byre and Ruby’s businesses have continued three generations, currently managed by their grandson, Brent Davis.
Ruby had a God-given gift of creating beauty. She grew a lovely rose garden at her home and artistically crocheted blankets, handcrafted porcelain dolls, and painted ceramic gurines – many of these items are still treasured by her loved ones. Ruby expressed her love to her family and friends by generously showering them with gifts; she loved to ll an entire living room with Christmas gifts for others!
Ruby lived a full life of 95 years and had the great privilege of seeing ve generations of her family. She was grateful for her large family and loved to revel with her husband of all who came to being because of their marriage. Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Byre; she is survived by her daughter Connie and her husband, John Krahn; her son, Larry and his wife, Charlotte; her grandchildren: Lisa Frueh, Christine Hager, Jeremy Krahn, Melissa Spredemann, Michelle Lehn, and Brent Davis; her 20 great- grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.
In her last years, Ruby formed a tenderness towards God and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Even when she could no longer speak, she shed tears when someone would pray with her. She recognized that she had a God- shaped hole in her heart that could only be lled by faith in Jesus. We have great hope that we will be reunited with her in Heaven one day.
A Celebration of Life was held for Ruby on May 27, 2020, at Reedley Cemetery. “...If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person
believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes in
Him will not be disappointed.’” Romans 10:9-11
