Hundreds attend Obon celebration
Staff Report
The Reedley Buddhist Church held its annual Obon festival on Saturday, July 7.
“We had between 200 and 300 people attend,” said Judy Kobayashi, church mem- ber. “Some danced, others watched from the audience.”

“Obon is a Japanese Bud- dhist custom to honor the spirits of one’s ancestors,” Kobayashi said. “It is be- lieved that each year during Obon, the ancestors’ spirits return to this world in order to visit their relatives.”
