If Roses Grow In Heaven
If roses grow in Heaven Lord please pick a bunch for me. Place them in my Mother’s
arms and tell her they’re from me. Tell her that I love and miss her and when she turns
to smile, place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for a while. Because there is an ache within my
heart that will never go away.
Happy Mother’s Day!
In Loving Memory Of Frances G. Vargas Love always, your husband Pete, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren

             Sally Rosita Marvel Freeman
Sally Rosita Marvel Freeman (Mus- tang Sally) was born on December 8, 1952 in Battle Mountain, Ne- vada and passed away on April 14, 2020. She was one of sev- en children to Thomas Jenkins Marvel, a Nevada rancher and cowboy, and Rosita Camarillo Petit, granddaughter of Adolfo Camarillo whose namesake adorns the city of Camarillo, California. She grew up on the Martin Ranch and The 25 Ranch in Nevada where she was instilled with toughness and grit from her father, along with a sense of style and a strong Faith in God
from her mother.
It can be said that she packed so much life into her 67 years here on earth that she might as well have lived twice. There’s no easy way to describe Sally in a few short sentences. She was raised to be a tough, fear- less cowgirl, a better hand than most cowboys. She roped her first mustang when she was 14 years old and went on to become a renowned cutting-horse trainer. She was truly gifted on a horse and no one will ever forget the way she could ride.
Sally was as competitive as they come and she spent many years with her kids and grandkids training their horses and practicing with them as they competed and succeeded in high school, college and profession- al rodeo. But horses weren’t her only interest. She also started her own fashion line and later helped her youngest daughter Quincy, start a successful western brand: Rodeo Quincy, whose merchandise is in over 300 stores.
Sally was a stunning beauty with a style all of her own, a trend-setter. She had a wild, yet classic style, always wearing her trademark red lipstick and high- heeled cowboy boots. She was the true meaning of “guts, grit and lipstick”. There wasn’t a head that didn’t turn when she walked into a room. But even with all that beauty, it wasn’t her style that made the lasting impression, it was the way she made people feel. To know her was to love her and her endless generosity knew no bounds.
Sally made the Central Valley of California her home with the love of her life and husband Bill Freeman with whom she shared many wonderful years on their cattle ranch in Reedley. She leaves behind three children - Pete Holman, Holly Crawford and Quincy Eldridge and two step-daughters Molly Freeman and Elly Kelly. Sally’s surviving grandchildren Billie, Lily, Lefty, Teagan, Luke, Reese, Carter, Blaze, Crew, Pis- tol and baby Sally -due to arrive this September, will miss their Nana dearly. She also leaves four brothers: Tom, Mike, Joe and Pete Marvel and two sisters: Suzy Barnes and Amy Seifert.
One of the greatest gifts that Sally left her family was her strong faith in God and her love of the Catho- lic Church. Remembrances can be made in Sally’s honor at St. La Salle Catholic School in Reedley, CA. There will be a celebration of life to be announced after the COVID crisis.
Vaya con Dios our sweet Sal. You will be forever loved and missed.
John Vernon Ball, 90, of Reed- ley, Ca passed away April 25, 2020, at Hinds Hospice House in Fresno, Ca. He was born June 30, 1929 in Tecumseh, OK, the son of the late Flora and E.H. (Her- bert) Ball. The 4th of 6 siblings, he spent his youth in both Okla- homa and the West Long Ange- les area of southern California.
On January 1, 1949, he mar-
ried Mary Ellen Bacon. Soon af-
ter their marriage, the couple relocated to California from Oklaho- ma. They first settled briefly in Dinuba and then in Santa Monica, where John worked as a mechanic.
He served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954 and was sta- tioned at Sandia Base in Albuquerque, NM as an MP. Upon dis- charge from the Army, John and Mary Ellen made their home in Redondo Beach, Ca, with their first daughter, Jeane. John be- gan his career at Hughes Aircraft Company in the Transportation Department. The family soon welcomed their second daughter, Debbie.
At Hughes Aircraft John advanced to the position of Manager of Operations at the El Segundo division. During these years the family also purchased a Thompson grape vineyard in Dinuba with plans to one day build their home and relocate there. Those plans were realized in 1972 when John began working for the City of Dinuba as Assistant Director of Public Works. In 1975 he was appointed by the city council to be Dinuba’s first City Administrator.
Upon leaving his position with the City of Dinuba, John ex- panded his farming operation and enjoyed many years of success as a farmer. Never one to be idle, after retiring from farming, John moved to Coarsegold, CA, where he was able to enjoy two of his lifelong loves, horseback riding and automobiles. He spent many great days riding horses with friends and opened the Auto Village car lot in Coarsegold.
John enjoyed an active and full life with strong friendships always at its center. Even in recent months, his morning coffee group, lunch group and visits and phone calls from friends near and far were a blessing.
He is survived by his daugh- ters Jeane and Debbie, numerous grandchildren and great grand- children and his youngest brother,
Kenneth.
John was preceded in death by
his sisters, Mildred, Elva May and Beulah, and by his brother, Bill.
