IHS baseball goes 3-1 in Selma tournament

The Reedley High Pirates softball team will open defense of their North Yosemite League title and begin league play on Tuesday, April 10, against Sunnyside High School at Reedley High School. The Pirates are the two-time defending NYL Champions.

The Immanuel High Eagles baseball team posted a 3-1 record at the Selma Kiwanis Classic.
The Kiwanis Classic was played March 26, 27 and 28 at the Immanuel High Sports Complex.
As of April 3, the Eagles were 9-5 overall.
After the Eagles defeated Cesar Chavez High School of Delano 10-0 to open the tour-
nament on March 26, they defeated Sequoia High of Redwood City 7-6 in the sec- ond game of the day.
Against Sequoia, Dylan Kent had two RBIs, while Ro- man Rosales and Matt Tigers each had one. Derek Wood had three stolen bases.
The Eagles then lost to Sierra Pacific High School 12-5 on March 27.

Reedley High athletics will return to action after taking a week off for the spring break. Here is a look at some upcom- ing games.
RHS Softball
The Reedley High Pi- rates softball team begins defense of their North Yosem- ite League title on Tuesday,
April 10, against Sunnyside High School at Reedley High.
The Pirates have won the last two NYL Championships and five out of the last six.
RHS Boys Tennis
The Reedley High boys tennis team will continue NYL play on Thursday, April 5, against Hoover High at Reedley High.
They then will play Sun-
nyside High on Tuesday, April 10, in Fresno.
They will play Roosevelt High on Thursday, April 12, in Fresno.
RHS Swimming
The Pirates swim team will compete against Roosevelt High School on Fri- day, April 6, at the Reedley High School Aquatics Complex.
They then then will com-
pete against McLane High on Thursday, April 12, in Fresno.
RHS Boys Golf
The Reedley High boys golf team continues NYL play on Thursday, April 5, against Roosevelt High at Sherwood Forest golf course. They then will have a match against Hoover High on Mon- day, April 9, at Airways Golf Course in Fresno.

Gomez won first-place in
the 1600-meter varsity race, and finished second in the 3200-meter race.
Alex Garcia finished in second-place in the 1600-me- ter and in third in the 800-me- ter events.
Gates earned third-place in the high jump, while John- son took second place in the pole vault.
The Pirates will compete in the Kings River Games on Friday, April 6, at the Immanuel High Sports Com- plex.

The Pirates then will host a North Yosemite League meet on Wednesday, April 11, at Sal Gonzalez Field.

The Reedley High Pirates track and field team recently competed in the Sanger Eas- ter Classic on March 27. Here are results from the event.
Reedley High's boys 4x1600 relay team won first place.
The team of Matthew Jar- rett, Mauro Sanchez, Alonso Lemus and Cristian Gomez recorded a time of 18 minutes, 40 seconds.
Anthony Lujan earned a second-place finish in the shot put, while Spencer Boling had a fourth-place result in the high jump.
The Pirates were coming off competing at the Rafer Johnson Invitational on March 17 in Kingsburg.
Seven Reedley High athletes earned medals.
Gomez took home two medals – he won the 3200-me- ter event and finished second in the 1600-meter race.
Boling won the high jump with a jump of 6 feet.
Lujan placed second in the shot put event.
Quinn Johnson finished fourth in the pole vault.
Liz Bienvenue took second in the 200-meter race, while Maddy Gates had a third-place finish in the triple jump.
Trinity Towes placed third in the 400-meter event.
Reedley High also finished in 10th place at the Pioneer Relays on March 10 held at Golden West High School in Visalia.

Josh Allen, former Reedley College Tigers and Wyoming University quarterback, will return to Reedley College on Thursday, April 19.
Allen will speak to Reedley College student athletes and be presented with his Reedley College game-worn jersey.
Allen has been projected as the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr.
Kiper is the primary draft analyst for ESPN and his mock drafts are considered very accurate.
Allen played quarterback at the University of Wyoming the past three seasons.
The 2018 NFL Draft will be tele- vised Thursday, April 26, on ESPN.

Josh Allen, former Reed- ley College Tigers and Wyo- ming University quarter- back, will return to Reedley for a ceremony on Thursday, April 19, in the Reedley Col- lege gym.
“It is awesome that Josh is dedicating part of his very busy schedule to return to our campus,” said Reedley College President Sandra Caldwell. “We hope a week from April 19th he will be selected as the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. We are thrilled for his future and look forward to seeing him here again.”
Allen played for Reedley College football team in 2014, after graduating from Fire- baugh High School.
Allen will be presented with his Reedley College game-worn jersey and will speak to the Tigers' student- athletes.
At Reedley College, Allen started six games for the Ti- gers in 2014, throwing for 26 touchdowns (seventh in the state for junior college quar- terbacks), and rushing for 10 touchdowns.
Allen transferred to the University of Wyoming after the 2014 season. He played for Wyoming for three seasons and helped lead the Cowboys to a pair of bowl game appear- ances, helping to establish himself as a top pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
