park at the east lots on campus. Residents and students who are in passenger vehicles may use Frankwood Avenue as a detour.
“If they’re coming in from the north, they can just come down Reed,” Robertson said. “But if they’re coming from the south and using Manning, they need to go around from the east and come south on Reed.”
No truck traffic is allowed on Frankwood Avenue, Robert- son said.
Construction on or along Reed Avenue in north Reedley has taken place in one form or an- other since the summer of 2016. That’s when the Reed Avenue reconstruction from I Street to Manning occurred. That work
featured construction of a round- about just southwest of the Reed- ley High School campus, repaving of the roadway and installation of traffic medians. That project fin- ished in February 2017.
Since that time, early phases of Reed Avenue roadwork have included placing phone lines and power lines underground along the roadway, and finally trench- ing portions of the road to place wiring underground and update sewage systems. The most recent roadwork along Reed involved placing curbs and gutters along side streets such as Palm Avenue.
Robertson expects the final paving of Reed on the last week of October. That process will con- sist of the bottom paving of the southbound lane, and final paving will be done while motorists are routed around the work.
Robertson said residents liv- ing on Reed Avenue and direct- ly affected by the construction should be receiving fliers from the city and the contractors, American Paving.
Meanwhile, initial road resur- facing along Manning Avenue be- tween Frankwood and Columbia avenues has wrapped up, with striping of the roadway being the last portion of work completed. Crews filled potholes and then did what’s called a “slurry seal” on the roadway. The city and workcrews were in communica- tion with officials at St. La Salle Catholic School during the work, and traffic delays were minimal.
Robertson said that any resi- dents or members of the public with questions can call Salina Gonzales with the city. The num- ber is (559) 637-4200, ext. 295.
