Maria Magana signs pro soccer contract

Cristian Gomez won the 1600 and the 3200-meter races
at the Kings River Games on April 6 at the Immanuel High Sports Complex. The Pirates boys team  nished in second place out
of 16 schools that competed in the Kings River Games.

A ninth-inning two-run home run by Fresno City Col- lege's Adrian Gutierrez was the difference in a game be- tween the Rams and the Reed- ley College Tigers baseball team on April 3 at Reedley College.
With the score tied 1-1 in the top of the ninth, Gutierrez hit a two-run home run to give the Fresno City College a 3-1 lead.
The Tigers were unable to score in the bottom of the ninth and lost the series open- er.
The Tigers then lost to Fresno City 8-4 on April 5 in Fresno, before earning a 4-3 win on April 8 at Reedley Col- lege.
As of April 10, the Tigers were 7-5 in the Central Valley Conference and fourth place.
On April 3, trailing 1-0 in
the bottom of the eighth in- ning, Reedley College tied the game at 1-1 when Josh Mares was hit by a pitch, with the bases loaded. They would lose the game 3-1.
Brady Barcellos pitched eight innings for the Tigers al- lowing just one run and strik- ing out four batters.
On April 5, Blake Hernan- dez had two RBIs, while Coo- per Morrison and Josh Mares each had one.
On April 8, Reedley Col- lege scored four runs in the second inning and held on for the win.
Damien Holmes had three RBIs, while Alec Akins picked up the win on the mound. Akins pitched six innings, al- lowing two runs and striking out eight batters.
Sid Lacey secured the save.
Reedley College opened a three-game series against
Porterville College on April 10. No score was available at presstime.
They play Porterville Col- lege on Thursday, April 12, at Reedley College.
The final game of the se- ries will be played on Satur- day, April 14, in Porterville.
The Tigers then will start a three-game series against College of the Sequoias on Tuesday, April 17, at Reedley College.
RC Softball
The Reedley College Ti- gers softball team took over sole possession of second- place in the CVC with a 2-1 victory over College of Se- quoias on April 5 at Reedley College.
As of April 10, the Tigers were 10-4 in the CVC, one game behind first-place Fres- no City College, at 11-3.

tom of the seventh inning, the Tigers had one last chance to win the game.
After Jessica Vegley sin- gled to begin the bottom of the seventh inning, she then stole second base. Mickayla Villarreal singled to give the Tigers two runners on base with no outs. Later in the in- ning Aunika Castellanos sin- gled which scored Vegley and Villarreal and gave the Tigers the win.
Emily Grimbleby was the winning pitcher. She al- lowed just one run and had six strikeouts. Castellanos had both RBIs for the Tigers.
Reedley College played a doubleheader against Taft College on April 10 at Reed- ley College. No scores were available at presstime.
They will play Porterville College on Thursday, April 12, at Reedley College.
