    Reedley officer recognized by MADD
  The View From Here
I have a few items on my bucket list. One that is at the top of the list is visiting a “Crime
Juanita Adame
Victor Perez awarded for his curbing DUI, making 12 arrests

A Reedley Police officer was recog- nized by MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) for his twelve DUI arrests dur- ing the 2020 year.
Victor Perez was presented with the certificate while at the Reedley Police Department from a representative of the organization.
According to statistics on the MADD website, the rates of drunk driving are highest among 26- to 29-year-olds.

 Con” event.
For those not familiar with
Crime Con, it’s basically a convention for crime news junkies (like myself).
This year, Crime Con will be held in Las Vegas. Each year they have guest speak- ers, like Keith Morrison, one of my favorite Dateline cor- respondents. There are also workshops, as well informa- tion on unsolved homicide cases, missing persons cases and more.
I was thinking of Crime Con just as I was opening a letter from Wayne.
Wayne is a reader of ours who lives up north. So if you’re reading this, hello Wayne!
I receive letters from him regularly, And (I want you to know Wayne, I read every single one.) Sometimes I can’t get to them right away, but I always appreciate your feedback in my stories and your letters always bring some happiness and insight. So thank you for that.
I would like to take the time to respond to some of Wayne's questions or insight about my columns.
After reading one of my columns, Wayne asked, “you love mystery, don’t you?” My answer to that is most definitely.
My love for investiga- tions began with the cartoon Scooby Doo. When I was in grade school, I’d say about 7 years old, I’d arrive home from school and my grand- mother would have the car- topm on for me. She’d serve me some chicken soup, a cold soda, and I’d sit in front of the tv and enjoy an epi- sode.
As I got older, my love for crime news and mystery didn’t stop. I’d find myself wondering where a certain ambulance was going, why the cops sped by my house in the middle of the night, my instinct was to get in my car and follow.
I had no press pass at the time so I had no business at any crime scene.
Well, maybe I still have no business at any crime scene, but it’s part of my job now and one part I can say that I really enjoy.
Again, thank you Wayne for your continued feedback on my stories and columns I greatly appreciate it.
Have a great rest of the week everyone.
