RPD issues 30 illegal fireworks citations on Fourth

Reedley police officers had an extremely busy Fourth of July when it came to battling illegal fireworks.
Police issued 30 citations — all of which come with a $1,000 fine — during the day and night to violators of the city's zero tolerance policy involving illegal fireworks.
Citations were passed out in the following locations:
• 1200 block of East Duff Avenue
• 1400 block of North Co- lumbia Avenue
• 100 block of F Street
• Two separate violations in the 200 block of South Sun- set Avenue,
• Two separate violations in the 1400 block of East Cy- press Avenue
• Haney and Springfield avenues
• 1400 block of South Ru-
pert Avenue
• 800 block of East Lincoln

• 200 block of West Sasaki

Officers also issued a num- ber of citations to residents setting off illegal fireworks in the days leading up to the holiday. A total of 89 tips were received on the RPD hotline.
In addition to the illegal fireworks detail, the Reedley Police Department's detec- tives were involved with a fatal shooting that occurred about 10:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Columbia Av- enue.
