Hay → there is, there are
To say there is or there are and to ask questions
regarding the existence of something, Spanish uses
the single word hay, from the auxiliary verb haber.
¿Hay una estación de metro por aquí? Is there an underground station nearby?
Sí, hay una. Yes, there is one.
¿Hay habitaciones? No bay. Are there any rooms? There aren't any.
