THE BAND AND BUGLES
At the start of the year The Band and Bugles of The Rifles had already hit the ground running with another busy, exciting, and action-packed schedule.
   56 RIFLES The Bugle
First off we embarked on a two-day tour
to Northern Ireland, Thiepval Barracks to support 2nd Battalion The Rifles, on their homecoming parade. They had recently returned from an operational tour, (Op. Cabrit), in Estonia. The officers and soldiers on parade were in good spirit. After being away from home for an extended period, they would have been looking forward to spending time with family and close friends. The rousing music from therefore certainly helped to raise morale on the day, and despite the cold wintery conditions, it was enjoyed by all.
A quiet period for engagements, February allowed us to focus on rehearsals for our Sounding of the Retreat (SOR) and Regional Bands solo competition, held in March. We also received a visit from Sgt. Kerry Wild (RCAM) from DCBRN Centre, Winterbourne Gunner, to provide us with a refresher for our operational role training CDA, and to introduce us to a new concept, CDU. Early on in February, our very own LCpl Beazley represented the band, and RCAM, in the annual Countess
The Band and Bugles would however
like to commend
our very own Musn Ewan Atkinson for an outstanding performance
