Devon Cadets gain gold at Regional Athletics
Early June marked the Annual Regional Athletics competition for the South West Region. The all-day competition, which took place at the Prince of Wales Stadium in Gloucester, saw cadets from across the region compete in a wide range of events from long jump to 4x100m relay.
Devon had eight representatives on the day, seven of whom returned home with medals! Those with gold, were put forward to represent the region in the National competition, joining all regions in the country for a glorious day of sport.
Staff Cadet CSM receives Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award
In May, Staff Cadet CSM Savory of C Company, had the opportunity to attend Buckingham Palace to receive his Gold Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award after successfully completing all five sections that make up this qualification. The Gold DofE compromises Volunteering, Skill, Physical, Expedition as well as Residential sections with participants taking anywhere between 18 months to 3-years to complete.
CSM Savory, who is based in Braunton detachment, has been a cadet since 2019 and achieved a vast amount throughout
his time with the organisation. With a big interest in shooting he has had the opportunity to represent Devon at multiple competitions, including Bisley. He has recently been promoted to Staff Cadet Regimental Serjeant Major, making him the highest-ranking cadet in the county.

PLAY HALF-TIME AT
ARMY v NAVY GAME
The Annual Army v Navy game took place back in May at Twickenham Stadium, with a special addition at half-time. Cadets from across the South West of England were selected to represent the Army Cadet Force at the interval. With over 50,000 spectators, it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our U13 cadets, and they took it in their stride to represent the region and we are all very proud!
