Year Two
Year Two represents the conclusion of Key Stage One and at the end of the year we gi our children with their very own school e ready to begin Key Stage Two as our uniform changes to match the children’s growth in maturity.
It is well known that in Year Two children complete Standard Assessment Tests or SATs just before the May Half Term holiday. This helps us to measure the quality of teaching over me and also iden fy children’s strengths and areas to develop beyond KS1. For many, old and young, tests are a daun ng prospect which can be a cause of stress and anguish. We recognise this and we have adjusted our approach accordingly; at Trinity, SATs are presented to the children as an exci ng opportunity for them to showcase their learning and they invariably rise to the challenge.
But, this is only a small part of the excitement in Year Two. As with Year One, themed ‘Topics’ provide a framework for learning by integra ng maths, reading, wri ng, history, geography, and science subjects. With di erent Topics each term our Year Two class will learn about the Weather, The Great Fire of London, Shipwrecks and Habitats.
