As children emerge from Recep on, their minds grow increasingly hungry for knowledge. So in Year One we feed their hunger by introducing exci ng and s mula ng topics that support
the children as they become con dent readers, writers and mathema cians.
The bright displays and teaching style in Year One is designed to meet the needs of young children who are naviga ng a change in learning style from an informal Recep on class to a more formal Key Stage One.
To keep learning fun and relevant we introduce ‘Themes’ to galvanise the various learning ac vi es and subjects. To enrich their minds further we some mes take the classroom on the road to illustrate that learning isn’t just an ac vity
for school. Trips to Leicester University’s Botanical Gardens and Rockingham
Castle s mulate their minds and expand their horizons.
