culture like our instructors. This remains true from basic training to our operational brigades, across our three employment streams and the sporting arenas. Our instructors continue to drive sport from the grass roots level, up to UK Armed Forces competitions and everything in between. This includes hosting, administering and representing; always doing the Corps proud. As the Secretary for RAPTC Sport, I see our teams going above and beyond to drive sport across the Corps for our people.
The Pass Off Parades at ASPT offer me the opportunity to glance into the future. By standing at the front of hallowed ground - Fox Gymnasium - with over 400 in the audience eagerly waiting and watching. ‘Get On Parade!’ Suddenly, a burst of white vests appear from behind the curtain, each one sprinting forward towards a new qualification and new chapter within their military career. This is always a proud moment for me to witness; the fulfilment of a journey we all know well and to see the future of our Corps standing tall, filling Fox Gymnasium.
The Corps remains a point of aspiration for the rest of the Army, ensuring our recruitment and retention numbers are healthy. Going forwards, we must continue to prepare our soldiers for the unknown within an uncertain geo- political climate, to continue to be the most resilient pre-war Army that we can be. This is a message I continually relay when briefing future RSMs during the RSM’s (Designate) course.
The first year as Corps Sergeant Major has allowed me to be involved with commemorating our past with Remembrance alongside our Association members; to visit the present and see all the amazing things our serving members accomplish; and through our parades, to watch the future of our Corps running towards me!
We are in good hands.
