Iconsider myself fortunate to have been assigned to such a prestigious post at the Household Cavalry Mounted
Regiment (HCMR). Aside the fact that the post offers me an incredibly interesting insight into the ‘behind the scenes’ of the Regiment’s ceremonial duties, the work here entails a great responsibility to train and develop soldiers belonging to the most senior regiments in the British Army.
Since the begin of my assignment in Sep 23, I learned about the amount of work that goes into ceremonial tasks and how this presents an enormous challenge to balance the official commitments and the necessity to maintain the attributes required for the ‘soldier first’ aspect of service, including the physical fitness. Indeed, the fast-paced daily life and the priority of the Regimental commitments make the delivery of a successful PT programme very difficult. However, juggling this along with the fact that I am solely responsible for the management of the gymnasium and the physical development programme plus the liaison with senior officers provide plenty opportunities for personal development and further advancement of professional expertise, which I find extremely rewarding and that will benefit my future career.
Among other things, I am extremely proud of having reinvigorated the Regiment’s training facilities by advising the Chain of Command (CoC) of necessary changes to the status quo of the physical training in the Regiment. The implementation of the suggested strategies continues to be a vital tool in contributing to the increased physical standards within the Regiment

and the maintenance of the Army’s fitness overall.
Despite being part of an extremely busy Regiment and all the challenges that brings, my excitement of working in Knightsbridge and delivering PT sessions on Hyde Park has not subsided. Some of the highlights were the re-introduction of ‘fun sport’ into the Regiment which brought back some enthusiasm for fitness and team spirit. This included a Rowing Competition undertaken in Wellington Barracks where we achieved great results and a Football Competition that I organised for the Regiment here at

Another aspect that I particularly appreciate is the possibility to promote our people and the hard work we do by creating content for social media. For example, as a passionate videographer I was able to utilise my skills when creating videos featuring HCMR personnel preparing and competing in the Princess Elizabeth Cup in Mar 24. The content received a plethora of positive feedback, and it was extremely satisfying being able to convey a positive image of the Army whilst enjoying doing the things I love.
