Assigned to 1 Medical Regiment (1 Med Regt) in a dual role capacity presents a distinctive opportunity. Working at the Tidworth Primary Care Rehabilitation Facility (PCRF) every Tuesday enables the maintenance of clinical proficiency. The operational tempo within the Regiment has been consistently brisk, characterised by a continual flow of deployments and exercises.
Adjacent to 2 Medical Regiment, collaborative initiatives are frequently undertaken, benefiting from substantial cross-pollination between units. Over the past year, several courses have been successfully conducted, including the DOFit Course, which saw the participation of fifteen service personnel, and two Physical Training Leader (PTL) Courses. These endeavours aim to uphold fitness standards within squadrons deploying small teams, rather than the entire unit.
Situated within the Tidworth Garrison Gym, access to extensive outdoor training facilities facilitates the replication of scenarios conducive to enhancing combat medical capabilities. The unit’s global deployments over the past year have encompassed Operations such as CABRIT 12, Op TEMPER, Op COPPER WING, Op GOLDEN ORB, Op INTERFLEX, and Ex HARAKA SERPENT, which underscores the importance of maintaining optimal fitness levels. Notably, 1 Med Regt was entrusted with organising and overseeing the Army Medical Service Festival of Sports (AMS FoS), a week-long extravaganza featuring a diverse array of sporting activities. As the OiC of the event, the opportunity to lead showcased the multifaceted contributions of a Royal Army Physical Training Corps Instructor (RAPTCI) to unit dynamics. The AMS FoS served as a unifying platform, drawing medical units nationwide to compete for the prestigious AMS FoS Trophy. The FoS featured events such as Hockey, Netball, Volleyball, BAWF, Triathlon and Squash, with selected sports incorporating both male and female teams, fostering

inclusivity and talent scouting. The event culminated in a keenly contested Athletics competition, culminating in 1 Med Regt emerging as the overall victors.
The year concluded on a high note, mirroring its commencement, with a significant portion of the unit dedicating
their Christmas leave to Op LAZURITE, a rewarding endeavour. The new year commenced at a bustling pace, with Ex NORDIC SERPENT engaging troops in skiing activities. Despite the demanding operational tempo, the unit has admirably maintained a commendable level of physical readiness.
