Iam now 22 months into my assignment with The Queen’s Royal Hussars (QRH) and still looking good, the unit have fully
supported me thus far in implementing some changes to all 3 levels of PT. The QRH personnel are more motivated than ever before.
The unit continues to remain at high readiness under the command of HQ 3 (UK) Div, HQ 20 Armd Bde and are currently deployed on various Ops spread between all four Sqns. Op INTERFLEX in support of Ukrainian Forces and Op CABRIT 14 in Estonia, where we have one Sqn deployed. The past year has seen the unit lose many AAPTIs due to other career aspirations or leaving the Armed Forces. We have gained two more in the past year, so we are slowly increasing our AAPTI capability once more, which is a focus for me over the next few months.
The QRH continue to be a very busy unit supporting all that is thrown at them, and are all in need of a well-earned rest,

hopefully R&R comes in to force soon so that the unit can be afforded the opportunity to conduct some Adventurous Training (AT) and hopefully attend some AT courses so that they can develop their own personal skills in a wider range of activities outside of their comfort zone.
The Commanding Officer, Lt Col S Wilson QRH, fully supports his unit in participating in Sport, allowing his personnel to participate whenever the Unit’s busy Battle Rhythm allows. The CO is also very keen for personnel to attend regional sporting activities and attend or refresh their sport qualifications. The proudest moment for me over the past year was organising an Enhance Forward Presence (EFP) boxing event, one of the biggest stages in Army Boxing due to its location and attendance of individuals such as the Estonian Ambassador, Brigade Commander and several other senior officers. The CO is still continuing to maintain his direction on ensuring that all personnel remain Fighting Fit and are
compliant with their Soldier Conditioning Review (SCR), Role Fitness Test (Soldier) (RFT(S)) and Body Composition Measurements (BCMs) which is one of the main focusses at the moment in the unit; offering support to those that require more monitoring in order to be more deployable and adaptable to any training / real time environment.
Overall, my second year at QRH has been excellent and I have enjoyed it immensely, as I have deployed with them on Op CABRIT 12, which was a very busy tour. The CO will continue to support his personnel to attend Sporting activities and courses while also participating in AT activities and courses where possible during some well-earned down time in the next few months. We will continue to influence change into all 3 levels of PT so that QRH personnel benefit from all types of Physical Training which will allow QRH to continuously be a strong fighting element of 20 Armoured Bde and 3 (UK) Division.
