REGIMENTAL JOURNAL OF THE ROYAL LANCERS
Lt Jibb putting on a brave face (and awful haircut) whilst up against the Mitchell Burger
average of level 5.2 through ACT proved that after just 5 weeks anything was possible. The Squadron made the most of the AT opportunities available in South Wales. 2nd and 3rd Troop not quite replicating ‘Point Break’ sur ng. LCpl Watling was to be named top shot of the Squadron after two weeks of consistently excellent ring.
Babington Shield made an appearance in the summer in the form of cricket. The Regiment were playing the competition at Richmond cricket club. Members of the Squadron were also instrumental in the playing in The Royal Lancers rst away cricket match at the HAC in central London. The Regiment managed an emphatic victory against the hosts and we hope this xture will continue this summer! Other Squadron sport- ing successes included 2nd place nishes in both volleyball and football, not to mention Tpr Williams-Tanton’s hoarding of gold medals on the athletics track
The pace at which the new Regiment got up and running was unrelenting. No sooner were the Squadron back from ranges were they conducting dismounted training for the Omdurman Shield. Newly formed troops were again put to the test, this time with dismounted tests across the wild, almost untamable Cat- terick training area. Once again the Squadron pulled together an excellent performance with all ranks putting in an excellent effort whilst troops were still very much in their infancy. All troops placed in the top half of the Regiment. 2nd Troop lead- ing the way with an outstanding display of physical tness and determination on the nal casevac and assault course phase.
Members of C and D Squadron’s were able to aide 18 Sigs Regi- ment in one of there exercises down in Caerwent. Sgt Edwards and Lt Jibb took a troop down to occupy OPs and an Ops room for the SF signalers. It was an interesting and informative week
