YACHT RACING
REPORT – AUGUST 2022
Well, what a hot weekend we had for the Beaulieu 2022 Regatta. It will
be remembered as a great summer event. Local and visiting yachts joined
in the racing held on both Saturday and Sunday. The regatta racing was hosted by Guy and Zoë Derby, who also organise the Beaulieu series racing throughout the year.
excellent races in the light conditions. We are hosting the 2023 regatta on
Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th June. Come along and celebrate this year’s event either by attending the shore based activities or by taking part in racing just off the river entrance. It should be a great weekend.
Linda Sign Captain of Racing
The racing fleet made their way each day to ‘The Boss’ Racing mark situated west
of the Beaulieu River entrance. Saturday saw light wind conditions with windward leeward courses set for the two races. On Sunday the winds were very light and the race start delayed. The crew of Sailfish made the most of the fickle wind and heat by having fun jumping off and swimming
around their boat.As soon as the wind filled, Guy and Zoë hastily organised the third regatta race which was a round the cans race, heading over to the island shore and back.
The cumulative results were close, with Steven Haywood’s Viper 640, Antidote, winning on countback from Roman Horner’s Copland Harrier, Meg.
Thanks to Guy and Zoë for hosting three
