hot taps running
unnecessarily (or
any taps, for that matter), shorten shower times (5 minutes should do) and treat baths as a rarer luxury rather than an everyday necessity. This will help to keep water bills down too. And finally, only boil enough water in your kettle for your immediate use - kettles are badly insulated so the water left in it will lose its heat quickly.
7. Switch, seek support and install
Whilst there is still a carbon cost to renewable tariffs, they are much greener than standard ones, and are price comparative. You can switch using a comparison site or join the North Northamptonshire Collective Energy Switch, a competitively priced group purchase scheme for the county’s residents and SMEs.
Also, the Northamptonshire Energy Saving Service offers energy saving advice, free
home energy assessments, energy related benefit and debt advice. Search the North Northamptonshire Council website for details.
