Further officer churn, with Capt Teuber going on attachment to the 1st Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles, saw us welcome back Mr Turner as the new Sqn Second in Command. Mr Fair relin- quished command of 3rd Tp for the polo fields of Bovington and we wish him well. In what was a year fraught with lockdowns and cancelled training events, the Sqn has not had a dull moment. With Christmas relatively secure at home with our immediate families only due to the national context, it took until just after the Christmas festivities to be put onto 24hrs notice once more to support the national effort. This time, Haulier testing in Kent. Eventually, the call came and Nobody’s Own, complete this time, deployed to Manston Airfield to support the flow of trade in and out of the country, just days after the Brexit trade deal had kicked in. Just days before the Airfield was a car park, home to 4500 stranded vehicles due to a closed border with France. Thankfully with the backlog cleared, xHx took the night shift, testing hauli- ers from all over Europe. Ensuring the UK economy, housed in these vehicles’ trailers, continued to flow in a COVID-19 secure manner to mainland Europe. 24hrs in, driving snow and rain with the wind whipping off the Kent cliffs from the North Sea. Tired, wet and trying to communicate with irate hauliers through the power of mime at 3 am, the soldiers of this Sqn were in their element and were a credit to those that have worn the xHx badge before them.
What lies ahead for 2021? We aim for the significant Combat Ready training event of the year, Ex IRON STORM which will take place midway through the year, bringing BATUS to the UK due to the Pandemic. The Sqn will prepare for armoured ranges at Castlemartin in June 21. We desperately hope to compete in

sporting arenas once more and restarting the AT momentum we had picked up in early 2020.
Sqn command will be passed onto Major Mark Lambert in April 21, returning a ‘pure blood’ KRH officer to the helm of Nobody’s Own after its flirt with a Royal Welsh and a Royal Scots Dragoon Guard Sqn Leader. On a personal note, I want to take this oppor- tunity to thank the extraordinary people of this Sqn. The xHx brand is a powerful one. I am humbled by the camaraderie, pro- fessionalism, and pride displayed by its soldiers and officers. Through the best times and the challenging ones, how you wel- come everyone you meet, attached arms, foreign force (or foreign cap badge) into the family is a remarkable quality we should work hard to maintain. Despite the enforced time apart in 2021, the Sqn has remained tightly knit, its ethos, culture and character permeating through Zoom screens and traffic lanes on airstrips.
We look forward to another stellar year, capitalising on our train- ing in the run-up to ranges, and the KRH Battle Group exercise
