SIGHT SUPPORT
Social Group
Social isolation and loneliness can affect
anyone who is visually impaired. If you have
been struggling with your sight loss, or would
simply like to find a new group of friends
who are likeminded and can relate to your
situation, our social groups are here for you!
NAB run 9 social groups across the county –
our Oundle group is open to visually impaired
people and their carers and we meet on the
first Wednesday of every month, at 12:00pm –
2:00pm at The Ship Inn, PE8 4EF. We ask for a
small £3 contribution at the beginning of each
session to cover costs.
You can expect a very friendly and welcoming
atmosphere at our informal meetings and there
is an opportunity to have lunch too. We often
discuss tips, tricks and experiences, as well as
offloading those frustrations which can be really
useful. A community support worker from
NAB will also be in attendance at each meeting,
giving you the chance to ask any burning
questions, or even arrange a home visit to get
some help.
As the group expands, we are planning to
hold the following activities this summer:
•
Ten pin bowling
•
Nature walks
•
Picnics
We are always happy to listen to suggestions
from our members too!
So, why not come along and join us? To
learn more about our fun and informative
group, please contact Donna Mears on 07850
