and very quickly took the lead. Nonetheless we stayed together as a team and after removing the rustiness, we scored a try and startled the Welsh Guards side. As the match went on, we stuck to our game plan and grew in confidence, resulting in a tense 24-14 win. The final match of the group stage was a 50-0 win against 10
In the final, we again played the Welsh Guards who came out strong, seeking revenge. Simi- lar to our first encounter, the final was physi- cally and mentally challenging. Furthermore, our opponents had a superior number of replace- ments and were able to replenish their team at

half time. The majority of the second half involved the Welsh Guards being camped on our try line. However we did not succumb to the pressure and countered their replacements with a strong show of fitness and heart from the side to win 17-7.
It was a fantastic day out and the team are thoroughly looking forward to the XVs season beginning next term.
Having won our group stage,
we were meant to have a slightly
easier quarter-final against the Pil-
grims, a veteran’s side from Her-
eford. However, they turned out to
be a difficult side to beat. The Pil-
grims turned free-flowing 7s into an upfront close quarter battle. Nonetheless, we did not shy away from this prospect, showing our pure grit and determination to physically overcome the enemy. Special mentions go to OCdt Perry who won player of the tournament, and to OCdt Keegan who deployed on to EX SECOND ATTACK immediately after returning to Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Inter-service Water-ski and Wakeboarding Championships 2019

As if sunny days at Sandhurst aren’t exciting enough, I was lucky enough to be allowed to partake in the Inter-services Water-ski and Wakeboarding Championships 2019, held at Box End Park in Bedford. During a late sum- mer heatwave, this seemed to be a seriously good sport to be a part of.
I have water-skied casually since the age of 14, but never competed. Having been in the Reserves prior to Sandhurst and afforded the opportunity to do some ‘niche’ sports with them, the idea of having a go at Water-ski slalom was something I leapt at. Fortunately, with Maj Ade Clayton, the Association’s captain, working in Sandhurst HQ, and the Quays Wakeboard and Ski down the road from the College, guidance and training were plentiful.
The team is probably one of the best Army teams to be a part of for various reasons, but mainly because training usually involves a ski set, fol- lowed by a large BBQ on the shore; tough sport.
I managed to get up to Bedford for a ski set on the Wednesday evening at Box End itself, to see the slalom course that we would compete on later in the week. I then returned to Sand- hurst for some good conditioning in the form of the assault course the next morning! Managing to stay intact from that session, I went back to Bedford that evening ready for the competition the next morning.
Yet again, we were lucky enough to have bright sunshine, but the wind had picked up a bit. The male team had some very experienced ski sla- lomers, who informed me that this would make
