                                  The Sephton Trophy
Playing to a packed crowd, on 25 Jun the annual fixture at Crosfields RLFC for the Sephton Trophy was played by The Mercian Regiment and The Duke of Lancashire Regiment. Although the win did not come our way, the game of rugby league was once again the winner, and playing the game in remembrance of Tom Sephton,
a MERCIAN soldier who died in 2010 on Op HERRICK 12, is the enduring reason for making this annual fixture what it is. Well done once again to CSgt Al Boyle for the herculean efforts of getting the fixture organised.
        Celebrating Diversity
We celebrated the diversity of the Battalion with each nation sharing their culture and cuisine with us all. CSgt ‘Goldie’ Kauleta did a fantastic job in corralling the effort from across the wide range of different nationalities, and it
was appreciated by all by giving extra understanding and education on where our soldiers come from. And the food was outstanding.
Also of special mention is Goldie Kauleta’s promotion to WO2. He
represents the first Fijian in The Mercian Regiment to reach WO2. An example to all, a pathfinder for his fellow Fijians, and an exceptional soldier.
