Mark and Rachel Dunn are The Village Grocer, an Artisan Bakery who started trading on
the thursday market in March 2022 after previously attending Oundle Farmers Market.
How would you best describe your stall?
Traditional, hand made fresh bread, pastries and sweet baked goods are our specialities. We use heritage organic grains in our breads, we mill some of our own grains as well which gives a unique flavour profile to our products.
What’s your best selling item? Norfolk Crunch Speciality Loaf and our signature Premium Sausage Roll are the most sold out items this year.
Do you attend other markets as well as Oundle? We also attend four farmers markets. Thrapston, Oundle, St Ives and Higham Ferrers.
Why do you love Oundle? The heritage in this area is as unique as its demography, which we love. There is a lot going on socially and it has a buzzing high street and market. One half
of our team was born and bred in Barnwell, so we have been in the area for a long time.
Are your goods ethically/locally sourced?
We use all local produce apart from a few non native ingredients. These are all purchased from our local on farm wholesaler or other market stalls. Their brands all check out as fairtrade. We don’t use any single use plastic in any process.
Any special offers available? Two premium sausage rolls for £5, two turnovers for £6 (mix and match) and discounts available for pre- orders. See below.
Are you in Oundle every Thursday? Yes.
Can people pre-order goods online? We run a WhatsApp group for pre-orders (you get a discount), just TEXT your name and VG pre orders to 07757 689964 to be added to the WhatsApp group.
What’s the highlight of your day? Watching the bread rise in the morning and selling the last loaf are my two favourite moments of the day.
