National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas 28 April 2012
This may be the last time that Alf Cooper played Last Post. Alf has been to dozens of parades, events, services and funerals, but has fifinally decided to call it a day. Thank you for all your help over many years.
Restoration of the Barratt VC Sign, Barratt Court, Tipton
4 May 2012
Barratt Court is situated on Batmanshill Road in Tipton. The flats were named after Private Thomas Barratt of 7th Battalion, The South Staffordshire Regiment who
was awarded the Victoria Cross after being killed by shellfire in Ypres in July 1917. When Barratt Court was renovated last year, the original sign disappeared and
the residents asked for a replacement to be installed. A special dedication service
and ceremony took place on the 4th May 2012 and the new plaque was unveiled by the Mayor of Sandwell, Councillor Joyce Underhill and Private Barratt’s nephew, Mr. Ronald Barratt. Afterwards there was a civic reception in Tipton Harriers Clubhouse.
