modern market cross designed by a well-known artist and architect, William Alsop. Neither of these were actually built.
To date, all that remains of the fountain in the town’s Abington Park Museum is a shield with the Borough’s Coat of Arms, a dedication plaque, a basin or Tazza and a copper globe which was placed at the top of the column, believed to be in 1953.
We were also shown an interesting plaque bearing the name of the manufacturing Company, Barwell & Co. and the designer, William Atkinson. We were shown all these
