way they are going, I have high hopes for them being future NVS champions. We owe a debt of gratitude to all those encouraging young growers because they are the future of the NVS.
Similarly, it was great
fun watching Beechgrove to see Calum Clunie giving a shout out to the NVS virtual show. His Sweet Candle entry
was shown beside other carrots they had trialled, with him saying “I will let you know if I do well in the show, and if I don’t, I won’t”. Luckily, he was placed 1st in Class 6 Stump Carrots, enabling him to follow
up with news of his achievement to delight Beechgrove viewers in a subsequent episode.
Congratulations go to Sherie Plumb; her usual high standard of exhibits earned her ‘Most Points’ and she was also eligible to be awarded the highly coveted Banksian Medal.

All being well in the world, in 2022 we will be holding the Southern Branch Championships once again at the New Forest and Hampshire County Show on 26th, 27th and 28th July 2022. Alison Clarke
