CENTRAL
CENTRAL OVERVIEW
The expanded Central Region continued to operate with the RIFLES flag being flown not just in our historic counties of Shropshire, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and cities
of Birmingham, Bristol and Coventry, but also across the central part of England and the whole of Wales and Northern Ireland. Veterans, both RIFLES and of our Forming and Antecedent Regiments, have received support in places as far apart as Lisburn and Leicester, Northampton and Bristol.
Lt Col Andrew Trelawny and Mrs Heather Morgan in The Rifles Office (Central), supported by Mrs Debbie Hards in the Taunton Office, remain grateful for the support of 1 and 2 RIFLES, of A Coy 6 RIFLES
in Hereford and Gloucester, of E Coy 8
RIFLES in Shrewsbury and Birmingham, of the County and City Colonels (Lt Col Nick Jenkins in Shropshire, Col Marius Coulon in Birmingham, Col Damian Griffin in Coventry, Col Andy Taylor in Herefordshire, Lt Col Tony Ayres in Gloucestershire and Lt Col Mike Motum in Bristol), the Light Infantry and Rifles Association branches in Shropshire, Herefordshire and Bristol, the RGJ Association branch in Birmingham, the RGBW Association branches in Gloucestershire and Bristol,
and the Buglers Association. We very much enjoyed maintaining full contact with our regulars, reservists, cadets, veterans, and communities throughout 2023.
SHROPSHIRE ARMY CADET FORCE BAND AND BUGLES
Since they were reconstituted last year, the Band and Bugles of the Shropshire ACF have gone from strength to strength. Their musical reputation has spread beyond the Army, and when the local RAF Station needed musical support for its Battle of Britain Day parade in Shrewsbury,
it knew who to ask. The Band and Bugles were congratulated by the Lord Lieutenant, the Mayor of Shrewsbury, the Commanding Officer of RAF Shawbury, and many other dignitaries taking part. Later in the year, the Band and Bugles also led the Remembrance Sunday parade through the town.
