Music in our lives – Vincent Davy from Thrapston Plaza Opera
Whilst this has certainly been difficult, music is still alive locally.
Although Thrapston Plaza Opera has postponed the production of ‘The Merry Widow’ till at least February 2022, members enjoy online singing at home. Thrapston Town Band has managed occasional distanced rehearsals and some ‘pop-up’ outdoor Christmas performances.
St James’ Church is presenting many services online with locally recorded music whilst St Paul’s Church has organ playing
during Mass with just a solo cantor singing the psalm.
For myself at this time, I am pleased to have more time to play the piano at home, rediscovering pieces I haven’t played for many a year!
Though these times have proved difficult for us all, I recommend turning to music whether singing, playing or just listening at home. If not always the ‘food of love’, may music be for us all a food of life.
