close to our trip it made the day even more poignant as we Remembered the Fallen.”
"This trip has been the experience of a lifetime and moments from the trip will stay with us forever, especially during remembrance activities" Cadet Sgt Charlotte Wallis added.
FS (RAFAC) Matt Smedley said "It was a privilege to be able to attend this tour. Whilst we all know the stories of the war and some of the battles, it was a surreal experience to actually visit these locations, knowing what had happened and knowing that there is a chance that some of the fallen could still have been there. It has been the opportunity of a lifetime and has only helped to increase my interest in World War 1".
"The France and Belgium trip was a truly eye opening experience. My respect for the soldiers has grown even more, which I did not feel would be possible. Being exposed to the horrors of the war is definitely something that will stay with me", Cadet Holly Musgreave.
Flying Officer Hannah Banks concluded, "It has been on my bucket list for years
to explore the physical history of World War 1, to fulfil this was an experience
I will never forget. The true highlight for me, was having the privilege to lead the team through the Menin Gate as part of the last post ceremony, paying tribute to the thousands lost through the conflict".
