23 Parachute Engineer Regiment keeping on top of physical training
achieved by conducting regular lateral flow tests and adhering to Government guidelines throughout. This demonstrates that as a Regiment, we can still operate effectively and efficiently during a Global pandemic.
The Regiment has remained active with military training throughout the year and has ensured that personnel are prepared for all MATT 2 testing by completing AFT, RFTS and SCR requirements. With the Regiment being on 48 hours’ notice to move in support of 16x Assault Brigade, this is of huge importance.
In 2020, the Regiment’s readiness was tested during Ex JOINT ENDEAVOUR, a snap Lead Assault Force deployment designed

to certify that certain standards could be met within the 48-hour time frame. Overall, it was a successful exercise, that saw 51 Para Sqn parachute into Southern Ukraine. Linking up with the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade on the ground, the Squadron shared tactics techniques and procedures with their Ukrainian counterparts during a field exercise that finished with a wide wet gap crossing over the River Dnieper. The real-life constraints imposed by COVID-19 added extra challenges, but these were overcome through effective training and preparation prior to deployment.
